Reverse Image Searching

Reverse image search is a great way to figure out if an image you see online has been manipulated or used out of context.

1. Go to google.com in the Chrome browser.

2. Click on the camera icon in the search bar (“Search by image”).

3. Choose one of the options:

  • Upload an image: Select an image file from the Chromebook’s storage.
  • Paste image URL: If an image is online, copy its URL and paste it into the box.
  • Drag & drop: Drag an image file directly into the search box.

4. Click Search (or press Enter) to get results about that image.

5. Optionally, after results load, add text in the “Add to your search” box to refine (e.g. “plant” or “bird”).

Lateral Reading

Lateral reading is when you pause when you come to something that seems curious or untrue, open a new tab or window, and explore that before coming back to what you were originally reading.
